Before the introduction of Super Over, another tie-breaking method, bowl-out was used to decide the winner. In the bowl-out method three players from each side are given opportunity to bowl at stumps. India won the bowl-out 3-0 with Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Robin Uthappa hitting the stumps while Pakistan players missed all three attempts leading to them losing the match.

The final of the first ICC Mens T20 World Cup was an exciting encounter between traditional cricketing rivals India and Pakistan. It proved to be a match to remember for ages with tournament decider going into the last over. India posted a competitive total of 157/5 with Gautam Gambhir valiant 75 off 54 balls. In response the Pakistan team fell short by 5 runs with Misbah-ul-Haq’s heroics bringing Pakistan closer to victory but MS Dhoni tactical acumen proved to be crucial. Pakistan needed 13 off 6 balls with one wicket in hand. Misbah-ul-Haq’s brough the equation down to six off four but he mistimed a scoop shot and S Sreesanth made no mistake to take the catch leading to India cricket team becoming first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Champion.

2012 T20 World Cup (Sri Lanka)

September 30, 2012   Super 8                                   R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

Pakistan was bowled out for low score of 128 in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2012 held in Sri Lanka. L Balaji led the bowlers pack with his 3 wickets leading to the Pakistan’s downfall. India rode to 8 wicket victory on Virat Kohli’s masterclass batting making him the leading run scorer with 78 not out from 61 balls.

2014 T20 World Cup (Bangladesh)

March 21, 2014                    Group Stage           Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka

Pakistan continued with their low score against India in ICC tournaments scoring only 129 in in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2014 held in Bangladesh. Umar Akmal’s was the highest scoring batsman with 33 runs. Among the Indian bowler’s Amit Mishra stood out with his economical spell of 2/22 in 4 overs.

India chased down the target easily with 9 balls to spare and 7 wickets  in hand riding on Suresh Raina’s 35 off 28 balls.

2016 T20 World Cup (India)

India continued their dominance of India vs Pakistan t20 World Cup clashes producing a scintillating performance in a rain reduced match of 18 overs each. India won convincingly on Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 55 off 37 balls reaching the target of 119 with 6 wickets to spare. 2021 T20 World Cup (UAE)

The traditionally intense India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match went in favour of Pakistan for the first time. The Pakistan team won convincingly by 10 wickets with a fiery spell by Shaheen Afridi, dismissing famed Indian top-order batters. As a result, India posted a less-than-par score of 152.
